Remember, the drug addicted person is using drugs because of a weakness. Everyone has weaknesses, but the addict happens to have weakness right in the very areas that would lead to addiction to drugs or some other addictive behavior, or other potential obsession. He or she probably feels pretty bad about the whole situation already, it will not help for you to come in and point out the obvious.
a drug rehab centre is counselling. It is important that you continue with these sessions to keep you on the right path. You will find that these drugs are still available to you, the counsellors will help steer you in the right direction so that you do not relapse.
Let’s look at a few of these options a little more closely. How about the free clinic. There are plenty of them around the country. Many of them have restrictions for entry. Many of them have a waiting list. Many of them are sober living and not actually a place to detox and recover. They are worth exploring as an option.
Now, I would like to say that I have never been to a drug treatment center, nor do I work for one; however, I do know people on both sides of the argument. I know folks who are avidly anti-treatment center and I know people that are pro-treatment center. I think that I would stand somewhere in the middle.
Because the interventionist is not emotionally involved he will not back down. It’s crunch time — the addict goes to treatment or suffers the full consequences of his or her behavior. In most cases the addict will have a moment of clarity and will go to treatment.
